Sciatica

Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve. Discomfort can range from mild to incapacitating, and may be accompanied by tingling, numbness or muscle weakness. Sciatica pain occurs in the buttock and leg due to pressure on nerves in the lower back. The pressure can be triggered by slipped vertebral discs, pinched nerves or some forms of arthritis. Treatment options include rest, painkillers, epidural injections and surgery.
